Thuz's Biography

I've always been surrounded by music, but the past 3 years is where my musical tastes turned to take me where I am today. Until I was about 12 I generally listened to anything (and to a certain extent I still do today), but it was when I first listened to Paul Oakenfold's "Travelling" CD I became hooked on electronic music. The way the records were mixed together fascinated me and I thought to myself, this is what I want to do..

Christmas Day 2001 was when it all started. I had bought some records before then and immediately started to mix (or attempt to at least..). I had a shitty mixer for at least 1 1/2 years. No EQ's, I was left with just gains and channel faders. In a way I think this has made me a better DJ, it made me a better beat-matcher and when my new mixer arrived with EQ's it felt like a godsend..

Musically I spin mainly pumping progressive house, and tough/techy breakbeats. I would say the DJ's I look up to are Sander Kleinenberg, and Carl Cox. Both have inspired me to do what I do and one day I hope to be able to entertain crowds as much as they have. Recently I have been listening to James Zabiela. His style is fantastic and its amazing what he has done seeing as he is still so young. Other DJ's I enjoy listening to include Lee Burridge, Jon Lisle and Steve Parry.

My first mix Dirty Karma has been played on Proton Radio (the biggest underground dance music station on the net), and has recieved lots of positive feedback. Over the next few months I will be trying my hardest to get my carrer going by starting to play in clubs. The challenge I have set myself is to pick up a local residency, by the summer.. Lets wait and see...
